Helpful Hints For Marketing An Affiliate Program On Your Website

by Zach Morgan

To get your affiliate program marketing started, there are a few basic tips you should remember to set you on the right track. You will gradually learn the ropes along the way, and discover how to refine your marketing campaigns and choose your ads most effectively. But if you've got some important basics covered when you first set up your website, even as you learn affiliate marketing more thoroughly over the next few months, you'll still manage to benefit from your first efforts.

Effective affiliate marketing starts with some discrimination and choices. Since you can't be all things to all people, it won't work if you simply grab all available ad campaigns for every type of product. Focus on the types of services and products that most closely align with your website's subject matter.

If the ads appear on your blog, then that means you can write blog entries about the topic without "selling out." You're writing about what interests you, and not writing solely to make people click the links and make you money. This is one way to mesh the needs of the affiliate marketing company with your own.

If affiliate money making on a large scale is your prime objective, then you'll need to be sure to choose ads for the products or services you are sure will be popular and get the most clicks. You can't always judge the potential success of an ad that easily, but you may want to steer clear of products that nobody is likely to want. You may have some success doing affiliate program marketing with an obscure product that only you are advertising, but that's a risky gamble to take, especially when you're just starting out.

Another thing to consider in planning your affiliate program marketing is where you place the ads, and what sorts of banners or graphics will best fit the tenor of your blog. Again you might not have much choice, depending on which of the affiliate networks you've joined, but tasteful ad placement will help rather than hinder your campaign. Remember all of these tips as you get going on this adventure, and you may find yourself making tidy sums of money before too long.

How Not to Do SEO Writing

by Andrea Picaso

Usually, those engaged in this ungrateful activity that SEO can be have some fetish to which they cling like a child to its security blanket: Pagerank, incoming links, keywords. Apart from sharing the fact that they are all words in English, these notions usually cause long sleepless nights, trying to understand fluctuations, changes in rates and fees, and others.

The reality is that since the semantic web has been imposed, SEO is much freer, or at least that is what I feel. Simply fulfill the following conditions, so that our site has a good chance of having much coveted top ten positions in SERPs.

A good url, preferably including some of the keywords. A good site from a technical standpoint, and usability. A product that respects the 4Ps: Product, with a high intrinsic value; Price, suitable; Place, accurately defined; and Promotion, adequate and effective. Presence in social networks, and community-real presence, truly bidirectional and productive. Prime Quality Web Content, relevant, interesting and based on the feedback of users Semantic web makes things much easier, and it is thanks to this new architecture that web texts begin to take real importance. It is therefore necessary to rethink the way we do SEO writing. In fact, I think it's almost an overstatement calling it SEO writing, it seems that is dedicated to meeting needs of bots of search engines, when this is only part of its function. The other great pillar, on which must be based is precisely, that our readers like it.

So, here's a list on how to do SEO writing:

Stop with the nonsense of keyword density. The excessive emphasis on such factors prevents us to set the focus where it really matters: texts should be meaningful, of great writing quality, original and informative, and reflect everything that we can collect from the feedback of our users. You see, if my keyword, -which at this point in the history of Google is no longer a tag but a " guidance notion "- is "leather shoes for men," I can perfectly do SEO writing with semantically related terms, because this way I provide meaning to my texts. Thus, insisting on including eight times the phrase "leather shoes for men" with a link to my site, it would be much better to include semantically related terms such as "leather moccasin," "everyday use men's shoes" or "men suede shoes". The reality is that Google, and at slower pace the rest of the search engines, are becoming more effective at detecting synonyms. Therefore, use them without guilt. This brings us finally to the next point. Do not resort to stuffing or other black hat techniques-especially hidden text, as it is no longer useful to any purpose. Make all your texts highly visible; put them in plain sight and, it's even better if you make them interesting to your users. I guarantee that the benefit will be much higher. Do not appeal to plagiarism. To "copy and paste" other people's ideas is not a good business with users who increasingly read more about what interests them, and they are well aware of published material on topics that are of interest. Increasingly, and despite the reign of the Creative Commons, originality and quality of content is still one of the most important assets of a site.
